    *********************************************
Actually my experience is not so complicated, as I am quite lucky. Because I found a good agency, a nice consultant, and just caught a chance, then I got it,......

At the first days when I was in Toronto, because of life pressure, I am not an IT people, I don't have any technical skills, I am not an accountant, or not even a bookkeeper, so I was so CONFUSED, so WORRIED, as I couldn't see my future, my developement direction. Told by friends that, I should learn accounting , or programming as soon as possible, otherwise, it's almost impossible for a new immigrant to find any job, which can be called a job. I don't like accounting, and I don't think it's easy for me to change my major to computer in a short time. I don't even have so much money to pay for those expensive private computer schools for a several mths course. I was blind at that time, no objectives, no direction. Painful.

But I have to survive, right? So I decided to find out my advantages, set my target job market, plan for meeting my target, actions. Sounds like my former job, I mean my former marketing job in China. But it's totally different. I found out that,
I can type fast, because I had to write many reports before, I had to prepare so many work plan before,
I can use win word, because of writting reports,
I can use win excel, because of doing budgetting before,
I can use powerpoint, because I had to prepare presentations before,
I am good at clerical jobs, as I have experience..
So, I decided to focuse on adm and clerical jobs, at least I have above advantages. U know what, many locals don't know how to use above so normal MS softwares.

At first, i send out many resumes by myself, directly to those companies, which need secretaries, adm assistant, or even receptionist. ( Later I realise that I can't even be a receptionist, because of language barriers) I did get some interview chances, but no any offer! Most of time, not even a chance for interview! I was so upset. Then I noticed that, there were many agencies which were also needing people. They usually introduced staffs to their clients, normally for temporary or contracts jobs. With the encouragement of HRDC, I began to send my resumes to all kinds of agencies.

In order to register with a job agency, u have to, first, have an interview with the consultant, to check ur english level, reaction, personality, ur working and education background, and so on, second, do some writing exam, such as writing an article, mathematics, vocabulary checking, ..., third, typing speed checking, forth, computer software exam.

I had already taken quite a lot of this kind of exams during the first mth after landing. For the first time, I was so nersous, and I couldn't perform well, as nobody told me what the exam would be. Now, my dear friends, u could prepare well for this, if u are in the same case as me. AS time being, I would not so nervous, that I was quite familiar with those exams. But the thing is, though I registered with quite a lot of agencies, still no any good news, until some day...

okay, these for today, talk to u guys later,,
To be continued. Good night, lumlum^_^更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
