    Rouge Valley Health System has an in-patient pharmacy department at both Rouge Valley Centenary (RVC) and Rouge Valley Ajax and Pickering (RVAP). Each provides a broad range of services, integrating the professional knowledge, experience and skills of our pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. The departments provide drugs and drug therapy for the purpose of achieving positive therapeutic outcomes by identifying, solving and preventing drug related problems. Pharmacy staff play a vital role in optimizing the patient therapy as it relates to medication use. We provide support to healthcare professionals, actively participate on interdisciplinary teams and are committed to quality patient care and continued learning.

    Reporting to the Manager of Pharmacy or Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician III is responsible for the provision of assistance to the Pharmacists with such duties as unit-dose dispensing, compounding medications, issuing ward stock and narcotics, preparation of sterile products, recording and labelling supplies and stock, and other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Graduate of a CCAPP accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
    or
    Certified Pharmacy Technician with Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) or working towards PEBC evaluating exam by January 1, 2012 + the Bridging Education Program
    Currently working towards becoming a regulated Pharmacy Technician, as per the OCP directives
    The PEBC qualifying examination
    The OCP Jurisprudence examination
    Registration with OCP
    Rouge Valley Technicians must complete registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists by January 1, 2015;
    Hospital experience with a computerized unit-dose distribution system and IV admixture service.
    Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    Proven organizational skills in a fast paced environment.
    Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
    Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
    Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
